Evidence

Teen oral sex rates reflect a 'hierarchical reordering'

Two-thirds of teens and young adults have had oral sex -- about as many as have had vaginal intercourse, suggests research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The data speak to changing social mores and the need to educate teens about the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease from oral sex, experts say.
The study is part of the government's effort to monitor those at risk for sexually transmitted diseases even though they aren't yet at risk for pregnancy if they're only having oral sex, says Casey Copen, a demographer with the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics.
The research shows that one in four teens is now having oral sex before vaginal sex -- marking the "hierarchical reordering of oral sex in American culture," says Justin Garcia, an evolutionary biologist with the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University.
Many sex researchers had believed that oral sex was being used to defer vaginal sex, but that doesn't seem to be the case for most teens today, says Terri Fisher, a professor of psychology at Ohio State University.
The only demographic group that postponed vaginal sex until substantially after oral sex were young white girls of educated mothers -- perhaps those whose mothers impressed upon them the need to avoid teenage pregnancy, researchers say.
Rates similar for boys, girls
Fisher says she also was struck by the fact that girls and boys gave and received oral sex equally and that sexual activity began at roughly the same age, with 44% of 15- to 17-year-old boys and 39% of girls of that age engaging in some kind of sexual activity with an opposite-sex partner.
"It certainly would suggest that the gender differences found previously no longer exist," Fisher says.
The CDC study is based on 6,346 interviews from 2007 to 2010, conducted anonymously

I started looking for articles that related to my research; and i came upon this. I like this article because the editor or author not only stated facts but used statistics to support opinions. Not only that but the author/editor wrote this article in a way that really spoke out to me and related to my research.

The Search for the answer Part III

Brains, beauty and intelligence equal true qualities that most women don't have.
Fajeany Evra provided responses that reminded me a lot about my research. Even though it was a short interview. I wish it could have been a lot longer. In addition she's also a teenager which is like a big aid in my research considering the fact that i am researching about teenagers.

The search for the answer part II

The search for the answer Part II

Love Constant leader and head president of her own youth committee was more than worth the  interview.
She proved to be more than an expert on the topic we discussed. She provided elaborate details and great tips on how to deal with peer pressure. Not only that but her opinions were great also.

Jerry's Theory

http://weeklymagicfailure.blogspot.com/2011/09/about-theory-and-how-it-feels.html
If everyone did something they shouldn't do.... would you follow. Even if it was the coolest thing or the next big thing; and if you didn't do it you'd either be made fun of or laughed at. Environmental Theory

If a selective group of people (teenagers) are engaging in irresponsible sexual activities. Then more teenagers are bound to follow their footsteps in order to feel wanted or become apart of the group. Not only that as homo-sapiens its in our archive or DNA (to be exact) to reproduce. Genetically we were design to produce off-springs.

Although there's a catch, as homo-sapiens we just can't go around reproducing with every female we see. Were tied down with the obligation of choosing one female or spouse as a partner in order to reproduce.

Thesis: Teenagers engage in sexual activities because of sexual advertisements, peer pressure, and lack of self control and will power from sexual urges.

Counterargument: However not all teenagers engage in sexual activities because they've been taught abstinence, the consequences of sex and some teenagers use strategy and will power to fight their biological urges for sex.

Why do you search for this answer ????

The day you first step into high school nothing will ever be the same. One of the first question you'll be asked is Are you a virgin? It's ironic because it was one of the first questioned i was asked during the first week of my freshmen year.

Intrigued yes,not only by the question but the subject. I was surprised when i realized that kids at my age where having sex or at least engage in having sex. My expectations were toyed with i would've at least expected a senior or a Junior.

Part II

What interest me the most is the age and who would be willing to at least engage in having sex; and to put icing on the cake i'm also shocked at how young these kids are. High school was a new milestone stone for me, a whole new level of responsibility and maturity. From the crazy rumors about               (so and so),girls doing things they'll regret one day and especially the reaction sent from boys to girls.

Part III

I started researching about this topic in quest to find an answer on why teenagers actually do things like this. Not only that but what tempts them to do such things.
